For this eight-month project, Aristeo managed the renovation of an existing two-story tall room to add a second floor that includes two work commons spaces, two seminar rooms and five studios. Thanks to Aristeo’s innovative planning as the general contractor, this project was successfully completed on time for the upcoming semester, on budget and with zero recordable injuries.
Aristeo renovated an existing 5,000 square foot two-story tall room, adding a second floor and more than doubling the square footage to 11,000 square feet. Aristeo helped execute an atypical classroom design that called for the interior walls to be built at custom angles from the exterior walls. Aristeo accommodated this design while also fulfilling many other scope requirements.
In addition to managing the entire project, Aristeo also self performed miscellaneous steel fabrication, installation and erection. The team also self performed demolition and concrete services, including installation of colored concrete. Aristeo executed a trapezoid entrance design built with medium-density fibreboard (MDF), metal and glass panels and oversaw the construction of uniquely angled walls and doors, as well as custom finishes.
During demolition of the existing concrete floors, Aristeo discovered multiple underground objects that interfered with the new foundation plans, including electrical conduit running inside the slabs and a concrete vault. Aristeo utilized Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to locate offending material, demolished areas that need correcting and adjusted the foundation plans to suit the new circumstances. The additional work would have added extra weeks to the schedule, but Aristeo worked overtime to maintain the schedule – while also ensuring that the foundations were laid properly and would safely support the new second floor.
